Was browsing through the Singapore Brides Forum for information on 过大礼 and came across this which I find it rather interesting and useful.
Chinese traditional customs are fun !!!
1. 过大礼 or Betrothal
Is one of the most important event in traditional chinese wedding, without this, the marriage is considered invalid.
This gesture has a meaning to prove the sincerity towards marriage between the binding of two families and the promises of taking care of the bride.
When: One or two weeks before the wedding.
What: Gifts and cash delivered to the bride's home by the groom's family.
The bride's family will take some of the items and return the rest to avoid the impression that they are selling their daughter.
Why: It shows the groom's financial dependability and assures the bride's family that she
will be well taken care of after marriage.
Must haves: 聘金 (money in red packets), jewellery for Teochews (四点金), dried
seafood for Cantonese, pig trotters for Hokkiens, oranges, liquor, dragon and phoneix candles.
Symbolism: 聘金 is given to the bride's family for taking care
of her.
Accepting the dragon candles signifies that her family accepts him as a
son-in-law.
Offering the phoenix candles to the groom's family symbolies the
giving of their daughter's hand.
2. 嫁妆 or Dowry
Dowry is a form of blessing from the Bride's parents to their daughter and future son-in-law. It signifies that the brides has grown up to take up the role of wife and mother in the new family.
Items like bedsheets, baby properity set, toiletries like mug, toothbrushs and toothpaste have symbolic meaning for the couple.
To have a good start !!!
When: On the same day after offering the 过大礼.
What: Gifts are presented from the bride's parents to their daugther and future son-in- law.
Symbolism: Baby bathtub, basin and potty are to encourage the couple to have children.
The sewing kit signifies a capable wife, the wedding lamps a bright future and the bowls abundant food.
3. 安床
When: On the eve of the wedding day (or any other auspicious day).
What: Items are placed on the marriage bed and the couple is not allowed to enter the room till wedding ceremony is over.
Why: Symbolises good health, abundance of fortune and offspring for the couple.
Must-haves: Eight types of auspicious seeds and grains, oranges, red packets, metallic discs (da yuan and xiaoyuan) or replaced by red packets.
Placed them on each corner of the bed.
Some will even get little children to jump on the bed.
Symbolism: The discs signify a blissful marriage while the foodstuff is to bless the couple with children early.
The whole process is usually done by a woman with good fortune ie, have loads of children, parents still alive etc.

Was wondering a few days back when I saw figures on a MSN name.
What was the counting down for ???
I read: FA and FA.
And... ... FA cup emerged from my mind.
I think I've found my answers.
Until yesterday, met up with 宝贝 and she asked:
宝贝: "你老公的 MSN 是不是在 count-down for the wedding?"
Me: " 没有啦！那个 figure 应该是什么 FA Cup 的啦."
宝贝: " 很像是 leh!"
Me: " 他不可能在算 wedding date 的啦."
宝贝 did some maths and agreed to what I've said.
But... ... I was surprised !!!
I was wrong !!!
我好感动 ！！！
I was so happy that our wedding was in his mind after all.
Even though it wasn't shown on his face, his thoughts !!!
It was in his heart and he cares, ultimately !!!

Haven't done any flights with familiar faces for a long long time.
Just came back from Paris with batch girl; Ashley and we've met up with team girl Margaret on the touch down day.
Accompained out-stations days... ... flies !!!
An energy boost too !!!

Yummy set lunch I had with Ashley and Chuan.
Salad + Main OR Main + Dessert = 16.90 Euros.
And... ... I've just found out that Paris was actually quite interesting !!!

老公's 2009 Birthday Cake.
Celebration at 老公's office.
It was meant to be a surprise but... ...
nothing escaped my 老公's nose.
Bidding goodbye after dinner at Crystal Jade, 老公 thought that it was the end of the day's program.
The group was fast to reach home before us for the little surprise !!!

I was out in the morning, following 老公 to his office.
Rather than staying at home and sleep, I would rather enjoy the day: 3rd of June.
We left office at about 5pm, as 老公 was complaining that he was really tired and wanna go back and rest.
Surprise No.1:We arrived back home at about 5.20pm, he sent me home instead and I was told to get ready for dinner by 6pm.
老公 arrived at 6pm and he didn't tell me where we're going.
I thought that he would bring me to Meritus Mandarin for dinner as it was where he had brought me for dinner on our 1st dating year's anniversary.
And... ... he had been hinting me on that.
Surprise No.2:
He brought me to Equinox instead.
Table by the window was romantic. (",)
I had Singapore Sling and 老公 had Stamford's Drink which came with a mug as souvenir. 
For appetizer, we had char-grilled Foie Gras and pan-fried Foie Gras.
老公 had the chicken soup as well.
Than we moved on to the Main.
老公's main course: (left) Local Peking Duck.
My main course: (right) Scallop with Cord Fish.
The ambience was definately fabulous.
Food wasn't too bad.
But dining at places like these was definately small and costly.
It was worth it once a while isn't it ???
Surprise No.3: 
老公 didn't drive home instead asked me to pick up clothing from home.
I went back and didn't spot anything unusual.
Headed straight to my bedroom to change and was really surprise to see the whole bunch of them in my bedroom.
They wanted to surprise me in another way but I was too fast.
I was surprise though !!! 
My birthday's reimbursement for my roller-blade from my dear friends.
I had an enjoyable 27th birthday!!!

1. When you are taking away food from a hawker centre, would you be

Or
Insists to sit on an empty table while waiting for your food???
I had a very bad experience yesterday.
DIdn't know that there were people like that who existed in our society!!
After our KTV session, we decided to have our dinner at Chomp Chomp.
As usual, the place is packed with people and we had difficulties looking for empty table.
After walking around for about 20 minutes, I spotted an empty table and a lady was siting back facing the table.
I walked over and saw that she was holding on to some money and was thinking she must be waiting for take away.
I asked:
"Miss, is this seat taken?"
She turned staring at me and shake her head.
So... ... my reaction is to ask the rest over to the table.
The cleaner came and while the cleaner is clearing the table, she stood up.
Once it's done she sat down again.
All of us was puzzled, but we carried on to ordering our food.
I was telling Carol that when the rest is back I would share the seat with her and with the lady.
Guess what happen ???
She moved herself and occupied 3/4 of the seat.
When the food is here Desmond offered to share the seat with Carol on the other side with the lady as well.
That is when the commotion started.
There were 5 of us, definately it's a bit pack and we had to share seats in the crowded hawker.
She scolded us for pushing her out of her seat, and that was her table and she is "KIND" enough to let us SHARE the table.
After some argument, everyone kept quiet for a while.
My Lao Gong ask the lady politely to wait for the food on the next table's seat so that we can have our food.
We had the same replied.
She had her "RIGHT OF WAY".
We kept quiet and my Lao Gong actually moved to the next table to wait for her seat than.
Than she continued her " Li Li Lo Lo Li Li Lo Lo".
When nobody is talking to her.
I really cannot take it, I shouted at her to keep quiet as nobody is arguing with her anymore.
We gave way and shut up why can't she just zipped up her mouth as well.
Nagging and nagging to us that it's her table, it's her right.
To wait for the take away food on an empty table !!!
You definately have your right MISS.
To take a seat while waiting for your food but can't you just let us have the table to dine in???
Or just keep quiet and wait for your food???
I might be in the wrong on some part but... ...
In my life, I have never thought that I would have come across people with this kind of mentality.
I must Thank Her for showing me that people like that DO exists.
Too bad it's just not my day !!!

This is the new hotel that we're staying at in New Delhi.
Didn't know why this trip renewed my impression of India.
It was a fantastic hotel.
Big, beautiful and comfortable.
I would say it was the best hotel that I have ever stayed in.
And... ...
The room numbers are mounted on the floors.
Interesting ???
I did went out of the hotel for lunch.
Once we stepped out of the hotel, I can feel the 43 degree celcius on my body.
Even the breeze was hot !!!
Or was it even called a breeze ??? Haha... ...
We had our lunch at the restaurant which was a 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
Cannot remember the name of the restaurant, will update once I've got the infor: Swagath Family Restaurant & Bar.
An award winning restaurant though.
The food served was fantastic as well and we were even served individually.
We had butter chicken, briyani rice, garlic and some special naan with nuts and garlic,
chicken tikka and some spicy promfret.
Ended the meal with sweet lassi.
It costs us each about 750 Rupree x 4.
I still misses the naan and butter chicken haha... ...
We planned for a trip to Taj Mahal which was a 4 hours bus trip away from New Delhi, but it was closed on Friday.
No Luck !!!
The transportation to Taj Mahal would have cost us each about SGD$100 each.
Therefore, I was stuck in the room the whole day watching dvds and caught the locals playing team building games at the grass field in the hotel area.
Don't know why this trip changes my mind-set about India.
Was it because of the nice hotel?
The nice food?
Or July is drawing near?
But it doesn't matter, as I did enjoyed the stay.

Has been a while since I've been rostered a "new station".
Not a very interesting station, but still... ... I've been here haha !!
Since it's the first time I'm here, I took the shuttle provided by the hotel at 10am to the shopping mall called Marina Mall.
I've heard that the land was reclaimed by the authority just to build the mall.
This is taken after the main entrance of the Marina Mall.
Although the mall was huge, but most of the shops are closed.
As the weather in the afternoon is burning hot (43 Degree Celsius), therefore most of the shops are closed and open only after 5pm.
That's when the weather would becomes cooler.
I've spent about 2 hrs doing some window shopping and headed to the foodcourt for my lunch.
Had the Butter Chicken Combo and it was quite tasty.
It cost me 25dhs.
After lunch, did a last shopping and got myself a top from Giodano.
Than I headed to the waiting area for the shuttle back to the hotel.
On my way back, I was told that we're passing by a 7 star hotel, which looks more than a palace to me.
As the whole area was covered by fencing.
It doesn't look as nice from the pictures I took haha... ...
The weather in Abu Dhabi was really unbeareable in the afternoon.
I was out in the sun for less than 5mins and I can feel the burning pain on my skin.
While I was in the car on my way, I can see the heat outside the windows once the car have stopped.
It was a place to experience but not for holiday I guess, especially Jun-Jul as it was the hottest period (Avg temp. 50 Degree Celcius).
